BBMAs 2024: Taylor Swift tops nominations, BTS’ Jungkook gets 6 nods

The 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) are just around the corner, with the event set to air on December 12 at 8:00 pm ET/PT [December 13, 6:30 am IST]. Zach Bryan is leading this year’s nominations, earning 18 nominations. On the other hand, Taylor Swift is following closely with 16 nominations across 17 entries. Morgan Wallen, who won a record-breaking 11 BBMAs in 2023, is up for 15 finalist entries in 13 categories, including five for his collaboration, I Had Some Help, with Post Malone. Sabrina Carpenter, with nine entries, rounds out the top contenders.
Other major finalists include Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Teddy Swims, and Tyla (each with eight nominations), along with Bad Bunny, Benson Boone, Chandler Moore, Naomi Raine, Shaboozey, and SZA (six each). K-pop heavyweights are also in the spotlight, with ENHYPEN, Jimin, TXT, Stray Kids, and Jungkook vying for top honours in the global categories.
Swift and Drake are currently tied with the most BBMA wins ever, each with 39, and each has won Top Artist three times. Both are nominated for Top Artist again this year, competing against Bryan, Carpenter, and Wallen.
The 2024 BBMAs also introduce three new categories: Top Hard Rock Album, Top Hard Rock Artist, and Top Hard Rock Song. HARDY is represented in all three, while Falling in Reverse and Linkin Park are featured in two categories. Artists like Beyoncé, Dolly Parton, and Post Malone are receiving cross-genre recognition, and Bad Bunny is aiming for a fifth consecutive win as Top Latin Artist, competing with Fuerza Regida, Junior H, KAROL G, and Peso Pluma.
The ceremony will be hosted by Michelle Buteau, known for her Netflix comedy series Survival of the Thickest.
